Natural Health

I am amazed that more people don’t connect their face to their food. They wake up and see a little more puffiness around their eyes, their nose might look larger than yesterday with a bit less definition in their cheekbones, and they don’t ask themselves:

‘Did those sun dried tomatoes and provolone on my salad last night do this?’ or ‘What about that micro-waved pre-packaged pasta I had for lunch?’ ‘Did I drink enough water yesterday?’ (FYI – the more water you drink, the less water you retain) or ‘did that diet soda and anchovy pizza go to my face?’

They just unhappily accept these changes as part of the aging process and something they can’t control. They might consider a few nips and tucks for the future, but other than that they feel as if there is nothing they can do. Well there is something that can be done and it is as simple as paying attention to what goes in and out of your belly.

For example, convenience and processed foods, and foods with preservatives, often make the body work harder at digestion, assimilation, and elimination. Consequently, that difficulty shows up in the body and on the skin. Processed foods are often pre-packaged in boxes, cans, and even frozen. Here are a few criticisms about these foods:

–Typically they are manufactured from almost inedible agricultural products
–They are high in fat and calorie contents
–They are the real culprits behind obesity
–They are often Genetically Modified (GMO)
–Sometimes an irradiation process is used
–Preservatives are almost always used

The reason these types of foods can affect your face is because more often than not your body identifies these types of foods as a foreign invader, or allergen (to which the body reacts allergically). Then, the body’s immune system is activated to fight this invader or allergen. One of the actions of the immune system is inflammation and therefore puffiness can occur.

If there is a sluggish elimination system and the body can’t get rid of this foreign stuff easily, then more puffiness can occur! I want to point out here that although I’m writing specifically about how these foods affect our looks, I don’t want to minimize their negative effects on the entire body (that’s for another article). But what I will say here is that this inflammation happens throughout the body affecting joints too (arthritis is related to many foods that are eaten and the condition of the digestive system).

The organs that are involved in elimination are the skin (yes, that’s an organ – its the largest organ in the body), lungs, kidneys, liver, colon, and the lymphatic system. When the colon is sluggish the other organs of elimination can be affected resulting in things like skin rashes, coughs, and constipation. The lymphatic system is a circulatory system whose primary function is to help cleanse the body of toxins. There are vessels and glands that run throughout the body – including the face and the colon.

When the colon is sluggish, the lymph can get sluggish, and consequently this can show up in your face. The areas around the eyes and the face have many lymph vessels. Therefore, proper elimination is very important in minimizing facial puffiness!

As a colon therapist, I know of several ways to help a sluggish colon. There are mechanical ways (colonics, enemas, colema boards) and there are nutritional ways. Both approaches can be effective. I just learned about a new product that Young Living has developed and I am very excited about it. It is a cleansing product and a nutritional superfood energizer that tastes delicious. It is called ‘Balance Complete’.

Balance Complete has balanced fiber that is really important in a cleansing product. Balanced fiber includes both soluble and insoluble fiber and accomplishes two things:

–Absorbs toxins
–Cleanses and scrubs the colon walls as it moves through the intestines

Along with balanced fiber this product has essential glyco-nutrients, essential fats, key antioxidants, protein from very clean whey out of New Zealand, digestive enzymes, and lots more!
Here are the some of the actions of this product:

–Toxin and fat elimination
–Enhances nutrient absorption
–Supports cholesterol levels
–Maintains normal blood sugar
–Nurtures probiotics and colon health
–Eases gas and bloating
–Curbs food craving

It’s a great meal replacement for people who are looking to take off pounds, nourish themselves, and cleanse at the same time. And of course, it has the highest-grade essential oils in it. Essential oils help to drive nutrients into the cells as well as balance the digestive system.
Mix 2 scoops in 8 ounces of water. It’s delicious.

Shopping For Health & Beauty Skin

There are an overwhelming number of beauty skin care products in the market, just go to your favorite retail store and you will see creams for every type of skin. However too many choices creates confusion in the consumer, in fact there are many facial products that cause side effects.

It is common to hear from people that tried a skin product and got secondary effects like irritation and inflammation. The problem is that using those creams is harmful due to the chemical substances that they contain. You should avoid products that contain parabens, petrolatum, alcohol, fragrances and other synthetic ingredients.

If you want to buy healthy beauty skin care products, you should keep in mind a few important facts before making your choice.

– Read the label of the product
– What ingredients does it contains
– Does it contain chemical substances?
– Does it contain allergens?
– is it made from natural ingredients?
– Does it moisture your skin?
– Does it reduce wrinkles by increasing collagen

Does are the most important questions you should keep in mind the next time you go shopping for a topical cream. Is important that you look for products that contain only natural ingredients, if you apply chemical ingredients on your face, you will experience secondary effects like dryness and irritation.

Is recommended that you look for natural ingredients such as CynergyTk, Avocado extract, Phytessence Wakame, Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin C and others. Those ingredients can stimulate your skin to produce more collagen and prevent the formation of new wrinkles.

Be aware of popular brands that make huge claims, in the US skin care products are not highly regulated, however in New Zealand you can find creams with the best quality standards that are safe to use on any type of skin.
